An excellent opportunity has arisen as an Estimator within a leading and successful family run Structural Steel Fabrication company in Leominster, Herefordshire.

Knowledge and experience of working within the Structural Steelwork industry is preferred, but not essential. Transferable skills are required from a Estimating/Pricing background.

The Role:

Your role will be to assist with generating new sales opportunities and working with the team to develop your knowledge of the steelwork industry. This will be gained from on-the-job training and gaining additional detailed knowledge into how we fabricate steelwork using the hands on approach.

Your main role will be to assist the Estimating department in pricing work on a daily basis from structural engineers drawings and models using our StruMIS estimating software and Blubeam drawing viewer. A key part of estimating is customer service which is a must have ability to continue established relationships and ensure our customers are confident that we are the preferred specialist for steelwork.

The ideal candidate will be local to Herefordshire/Worcestershire/Shropshire.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

Carrying out accurate take offs from structural engineer drawings.
Preparing tenders.
Liaising with the Estimating Manager and Project team to develop in-depth knowledge of structural steelwork.
Liaising with the Contracts Manager to understand and interpret site requirements.
Developing relationships with new and existing customers.
Liaising with our Supply Chain for secondary trade quotations & understanding those products (precast concrete, metal decking, edge protection etc.).
Attend weekly tender review meetings with the Company Directors/Managers to confirm understanding of each individual tender.
Ensuring customer timelines are strictly adhered to and deadlines are not missed.
Organising client meetings to discuss our tenders; inclusions, price, programme etc.
Carrying out tasks to assist the Estimating Manager.
Desired Skills & Requirements:

Ability to interpret and work from structural engineers drawings.
Ability to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills and a proven relationship builder.
Excellent IT and Computer Skills including Microsoft Office and Excel.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Mifflin Construction specialises in the fabrication and erection of structural steelwork.
We are able to provide other services such as the supply and/or installation of pre-cast concrete planks, stairs & lift shafts, metal decking, steel stairs & edge protection.
With our emphasis on building and maintaining long-term relationships with our partners, we are entirely flexible in delivering on their requirements - we work across all sectors in the industry:
As Project Manager, the purpose of your role will be: -

To manage live projects from point of order, to final handover on site with a particular focus on pre-construction/design.

You will need to provide a constant link between our clients project team and Mifflin HQ including commercial, manufacturing, supply chain and site work.

You will drive continuous improvement projects across the department by refining existing processes and developing new ones.

Key Accountabilities

- Manage live projects working with Asta Powerproject to ensure timely delivery

- Manage detailing and connection design spend with suppliers to deliver all projects within budget

- Manage and cost all variations throughout the entirety of the project, working closely with the commercial department to ensure monthly applications are correct

- Ensure efficient and effective management of RFI process through using internal tracking systems and managing key client stakeholders

- Drive weekly operations meetings to ensure all departments are fully up to date with key information and programmes

- Ensure required progress on projects and all queries/RFI's are efficiently managed to required deadlines through external design/detailing sub-contractors

- Ensure consistent approach to storing key documentation across all departments on internal document management system and shared drives

Training & Development

You will need to develop a sound knowledge of internal systems and be able to enhance their use across the business, including - STRUMIS, Union Square, Asta Project, Microsoft Teams/OneNote

You will need to further develop technical knowledge and understanding or structural steelwork

Additional courses in construction and design, will be considered to support further personal development.
